P.E: Wednesday

Reading: In Reception we read 3 times a week within the classroom. These sessions are called 'Reading Practise' sessions and are in line with the Little Wandle phonics scheme that we follow.

On Tuesday we decode our book for the week, on Wednesday we look at prosody, which is all about adding expression to our read, on Thursday we answer some simple comprehension questions. Our books are then sent home on a Thursday. (We ask you to return them on a Monday so we can get them ready for the following week).

Phonics: We teach Phonics daily in reception. In the morning the children are taught the session for the day in line with the Little Wandle planning. In the afternoon they are taught to their gaps. Class Rewards

Dojo Points: Class Dojo points are awarded to pupils who display our core values of pride, respect, resilience, kindness and ambition.
Rewards Menu: Once a child has achieved 50 Class Dojo points they are free to exchange these for a 'dip in the prize box'.

Star of the Week: One child each week is selected for a special award for demonstrating one of our school values, issued in our weekly Celebration Assembly.
 

Curriculum: In Reception, we follow the EYFS curriculum which is a play based curriculum. Play and exploration is fundamental to our classroom allowing children to learn by first hand experiences. Our classroom is full of artists, scientists, architects, mathematicians and sport stars.
