Art and Design

At Tyldesley Primary School, Art and Design is a vital part of the curriculum as it provides a means of expression for all our children, regardless of their competence in verbal or written communication. It is a practical, hands-on subject which stimulates creativity and imagination through a wide range of materials used within each unit of work.

Art and Design is effective as a cross curricular link, adding to children’s experiences and depth of understanding in other areas of learning. It supports children to identify and appreciate the work of other artists which reflect diversity.

The children develop skills in painting, drawing, sculpture, craft and design. They will be encouraged to gain a sense of pride and achievement in their own artwork and take pleasure sharing it with a wider audience. They will be given opportunities to work as creative individuals and collaboratively within the wider school community.
