Mathematics

Mathematics

Mathematics is made up of 2 key areas: number and numerical patterns.

Maths is taught daily within the EYFS classrooms. We use NCETM as the basis for our daily maths input, alongside the White Rose EYFS curriculum. We have a maths areas within our environment which allows the children to interact with numbers, explore ideas and deepen their understanding of early mathematical concepts.  We introduce children to key mathematical language, so the children can explain their understanding using correct terms.

NUMBER RHYMES

Number rhymes are used daily to support taught concepts. Number rhymes are then left out within the environment, so children can continue to deepen their understanding of the taught concept.

Specific number rhymes are taught to support specific concepts.

Shape, Space and Measures

During our weekly daily sessions and throughout provision, we also look at shape, space and measures. We explore shapes and their properties, as well as looking at mass, capacity, height, length and other things. Our explorations are done throughout our enviroment.
