Welcome to Year 5A
Welcome to Year 5a's class page! This is where you will find all the information you need to know about the Year 5 curriculum and the exciting learning your children will experience this year. There is so much to look forward to with each child's day varied and built around curiosity and enthusiasm.
Our day starts at 8:45am and ends at 3:30pm. In that time, we enjoy being inquisitive and independent learners, who work hard to achieve great things and are able to persevere when things become tricky. As class teacher I am a big believer in the 'Power of Yet' and therefore as a class we will strive to always get there and never give up.
P.E will be every Monday afternoon. This half-term, our learning focus is fitness. Please remember to remove any watches or earrings on PE day.
The children should always have a school reading book, which they need to be taking home each day and returning the following day. The children are expected to read four times a week. Reading should be documented in the children's reading record so they can move up the reading championship on a Friday.
Spelling tests will be every Friday. New spellings will be sent via Class Dojo on the same day to practise for the following week. Copies of spellings will be primarily be digital using Dojo as we have decided as a class that this will help ensure that we are being as eco as we can be.
Homework
- Read at least 4 times a week
- Practise weekly spellings
- Practise times tables using TT Rockstars (timestables up to 12 x 12), or any other maths related games such as Daily 10 on TopMarks.
- Children may also want to do extra research. If they are to do this within class it will be celebrated and rewarded. With evidence of this to be sent via Dojo or given to me.
All important information can be found on this page and the website. (Please see the curriculum map for an overview of our learning this half term)
